Why choose a 3D architectural film and how is it made?

We’re not telling you anything new when we say that video has become an essential format today. In communication, it brings real added value: better understanding of the product or service, stronger retention of information, attractive visuals, easy sharing… In short, only advantages — all of which also apply to 3D infographics.

A 3D architectural film allows you to present a real estate project in an immersive way. Usually complementing 3D renderings, it gives the possibility to fully immerse yourself not only in a project, but also in an atmosphere, a universe. Things come to life and suddenly become tangible. In 3D, anything can be created, meaning every element can be animated: wind in the trees, a sunset, a bird taking flight, or children playing.
As you can see, whatever the project’s purpose or requirements, 3D animation video offers countless advantages. With its strong visual impact, 3D films are often sought after in competitions to impress juries. They also accelerate sales by helping clients make purchase decisions more easily and convince investors in real estate promotions.
Compared with 3D still images, 3D films enable full immersion in the context while also providing a sense of scale. Volumes, materials, and functional aspects of the project are better understood. But above all, they convey the emotion we are looking for.
All that sounds great, but how does it actually work? The process begins once the 3D renderings of the project are completed. We first gather all the necessary information and technical details. From there, we can define a general outline and start sketching the storyboard. It’s time to play Spielberg (a little pretentious, we admit) and imagine the script for the 3D film. The idea is to showcase the project in the best possible way. Static shots, tracking shots, zooms, wide angles, depth of field: everything must be considered. But also the mood we want to create, lighting variations, and the overall rhythm.

Another key element: agreeing with our client on the soundtrack for the 3D video. Music is fundamental, as it helps us pace the film, adds emotional depth, enhances memorization of the project, and contributes to the “wow” effect. Depending on its style, rhythm, tempo, and whether it has lyrics or not, the soundtrack can inspire the entire creative process. Once the client validates the choice, we can begin working on the animations!
The animation phase is where we animate the cameras and their trajectories, along with the elements mentioned earlier: wind in the vegetation, people moving, and more.
Once animations are complete, we move on to editing. (We won’t dwell on this part—you probably know it already!) In addition to the project itself, in some cases we integrate lifestyle video sequences. These help add rhythm to the 3D film and immerse future buyers in an enhanced reality—so much so that they may almost forget the project is computer-generated.

After a few back-and-forth adjustments to the animatic, the project is approved! We then move on to the HD render and final delivery.
